A throwback to Ziferblat performing on X-Factor Ukraine in 2019: why the judges found the band "strange" and "obscure." Video

A throwback video of Ziferblat, the band that will go to Basel, Switzerland, in May to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2025, has resurfaced online showing them performing on the stage of X Factor in 2019. Back then, the jury didn't appreciate the band's zest, but now the young performers' fame has finally caught up with them.

Ziferblat members formed the band when they were in the 8th grade, but they often rejected offers of small performances because they wanted to be famous. That's how they ended up on X Factor. A video of their performance was posted on YouTube.

The participants performed their then new track "Vnochi" (At Night), but at that time they didn't even know what genre it belonged to. The fact is that the guys create songs in different musical genres.

Only Nastya Kamenskykh was delighted with Ziferblat's performance. For her, the sound was unusual, but appealing.

However, Andriy Danylko criticized the band. He found their performance strange. "As for me, it was a very strange rhythm, it's a very strange song. You are very green. But there is a certain charm to it. I think you need a yes," Danylko said at the time.

"Your music would be great in a modern action movie. But the weak link in your work is definitely lyrics. You have some energy, but everything is so naive and raw. I don't see you being able to perform in live shows of the X Factor," Ihor Kondratyuk said and also called the group "something obscure."

Olya Polyakova did not understand the lyrics either.

It is worth noting that Ziferblat received only 3 out of 4 "yes" votes. Thus, they still managed to make it to the training camp.
