How to get rid of mold and odor in the washing machine: an effective method
Many people don't realize that washing machines need to be cleaned regularly if you want to prevent damage and leaks.
Soap, moisture, and limescale can build up over time in the rubber seal inside the door of the washing machine and cause mold to grow inside the machine, as well as an unpleasant odor. You can easily get rid of this using only two items, OBOZ.UA writes.
White vinegar and baking soda will help. White vinegar contains acetic acid, which can naturally break down mold and other dirt inside the washing machine door, weakening it and making it easier to remove.
Baking soda is a strong alkali that also helps get rid of mold, but this makes it very effective at dissolving soap residue that may be stuck to the rubber seal.
How to clean the washing machine door
All you have to do is pour white vinegar into an empty spray bottle and spray it on the rubber seal around the washing machine door.
Let the white vinegar sit for a few minutes to break down the mold. Then use a clean cloth to wipe the dirt off the seal. Keep repeating this method until the cloth is clean when you wipe the rubber seal with it.
Then add 120 ml of white vinegar to the detergent container in your washing machine. Turn on the washing machine without water and turn on the hottest water setting to clean it thoroughly.
After the wash is complete, pour about four tablespoons of washing or baking soda into the washing machine drum.
Run the hot water cycle again. When it is done, wipe the inside of the drum with a cloth and your washing machine should be completely clean.
