"Listen to Usyk and Lomachenko": the Olympic champion named what "cannot be expressed in words"
World welterweight champion Lauren Price called the Olympic gold medal a much greater achievement than success in the professional ring. The 30-year-old Briton emphasized that she fully agrees with legendary Ukrainians Oleksandr Usyk and Vasyl Lomachenko.
Price said this in an interview with The Independent. The athlete called the victory at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic tournament the peak of her career, noting that you need to be a special athlete to achieve such an achievement, which is not for everyone.
"Of course, I'm very proud of my world title in the pros, but... Listen to Oleksandr Usyk and Vasyl Lomachenko, they understand what it means to win Olympic gold. I feel the same way. I'm not saying it's easy to win world championship belts, but you have to be special to win Olympic gold. It was the peak of my career and probably always will be. I can't put it into words," Price said.
It should be noted that Usyk became the champion of the 2012 Olympics in London, and Lomachenko twice won gold at the Games in Beijing 2008 and in the capital of Great Britain.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Oleksandr Usyk jokingly agreed to a fight against streamer Mikhail Lebiga, whom he called "an incredible person."
