Ziferblat: what we know about Ukraine's official Eurovision 2025 representative and what their song is about

The Ukrainian music band Ziferblat captivated the audience at National Selection final and won the right to represent Ukraine at the international stage of Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland. The "veterans" of the National Selection win over the audience back in 2024 when they lit up the stage with their powerful song Place I Call Home and became a discovery for many listeners.

The artists are not afraid to experiment with the music genres and pay great attention to the visual component of their works. Therefore, the track Bird of Pray, which they applied for the National Selection, does not lose its leading position in the trends and thus won deservedly.

What we know about Ziferblat

The history of the band, which consists of twin brothers Daniil Leshchynskyi and Valentyn Leshchynskyi, as well as Fedor Khodakov, began in 2015. The band released their first album, titled Kinoseans (Movie Session) in 2017, and two years later they performed their single Vnochi (At Night) on the stage of the talent show X-Factor.

The band members decided to try their hand at the National Selection for the first time in 2022. Back then, they made it to the longlist, but unfortunately, they failed to break into the top ten finalists. The artists did not give up, but actively worked to improve their work. In April 2023, they released the album Peretvorennia (Transformation), which included 13 songs, and in September they won the Muzvar Awards in the nomination Best New Names in Alternative Music.

In 2024, Ziferblat managed to make a strong comeback at Ukraine's National Selection for Eurovision. The song Place I Call Home, which, according to the stars, is dedicated to all Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes because of the war, brought them second place in the overall ranking.

It is interesting that the band members do not associate their work with any musical genre. They are not afraid to experiment and explore different directions.

What the song Bird of Pray is about?

For this year's National Selection, Ziferblat has prepared an equally impressive composition with a rather deep meaning.

"This song is about hope in the first place. It's about the fact that after dark times come light ones. The leitmotif is a bird, which is a symbol of reincarnation, rebirth and freedom," the artists explained.

The track Bird of Pray has become a favorite among the audience, as it has not lost its leading positions in the charts for some time. The music video for the song took the 12th place in the Popular section on YouTube and collected more than 112 thousand views. Moreover, their song was the only one of all the entries submitted to the National Selection that remained in the daily Spotify chart (28th place).

In the final, which took place on February 8, Ziferblat received 9 points from the judges and the maximum 10 from the audience.
