"A real killer. A bad man": Fury speaks out strongly on Usyk fight, kicking off Joshua
The owner of the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt, Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), called Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) an absolute killer. The Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is called, recalled the Ukrainian's two victories over Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) and called the fight against our compatriot the main fight of the year.
Fury said this in an interview with The Stomping Ground YouTube channel. The British boxer emphasized that he could not look behind Usyk's back and make plans for a possible fight with Joshua, confirming that he would have two fights with the Ukrainian champion.
"Usyk and I are the biggest fight of the century. There is no bigger fight. Because we are both undefeated. After I beat Usyk in the fight for the title of absolute world champion, I will meet him again. And I understand that one of the belts will be off the table. Usyk is a real killer. He is a bad person, Usyk. Let's not forget that he beat Joshua twice. He took him down the stairs. So how can I underestimate Usyk?" said Fury.
Earlier, Oleksandr told us what he would do if the Briton refused to enter the ring on May 18. In turn, Tyson promised to easily defeat the Ukrainian. The WBC announced its intention to change the boxing rules for the sake of the fight between Usyk and Fury. And the Briton spoke frankly about his injury.
The legendary Lennox Lewis also spoke about the fight, urging not to write off the Ukrainian. In addition, Oleksandr and Tyson's fees for the fight were announced.
And British fans suddenly began to give up on the Ukrainian's chances of winning. In turn, Tyson himself promised to beat Usyk easily.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, former world middleweight champion Carl Froch questioned the holding of the Usyk-Fury fight. And promoter Eddie Hearn intends to disrupt the rematch between the Ukrainian and the Briton.
