Famous Ukrainian track and field athlete Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk finished 11th in the triple jump at the 2024 Olympics. The 29-year-old native of Khmelnytskyi region finished her performances in Paris with a single effective attempt of 13.98 meters.
First, Maryna missed the mark by 0.1 cm. Her second attempt was also not counted. Jumping for the third time, Bekh-Romanchuk failed by 19 centimeters, which ultimately affected the result.
The Ukrainian athlete did not make it to the top eight and will not continue her fight for medals.
The day before, Maryna's husband, Mykhailo Romanchuk, refused to compete in the 1500-meter freestyle at the 2024 Olympics. The 27-year-old native of Rivne had a high fever and deteriorated physical condition the day before the start.
Answering a journalist's question about whether the absence of her husband from the stands affected her, Maryna admitted that it had been a difficult year for her and that she just had to get through it. After these words, the Ukrainian athlete burst into tears.
As previously reported, on August 2, Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk failed to qualify directly for the finals of the 2024 Olympic Games in the triple jump sector. Our compatriot did not meet the standard of 14 meters and 35 centimeters, but this did not prevent her from being among the top 12 qualifiers and reaching the medal competition.
