Joshua admires Usyk
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) admired Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) during a meeting with the Ukrainian at The Ring magazine's awards ceremony in London. The Watford native noted that our compatriot has achieved incredible results, twice defeating both him and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).
The corresponding video was published on the Bob&Weave channel on YouTube. Joshua sincerely addressed the Ukrainian unified champion with words of support. The British heavyweight noted that he was proud of Usyk's achievements, who won all the belts in two weight categories.
"I respect you and I'm proud of you, honestly. What you did is not easy. You did well, brother! I'm proud of you. What you've done is very impressive, I know it in my heart. It's incredible," Joshua said.
It should be noted that Usyk made a splash at The Ring ceremony, winning three awards in 2024. In particular, Oleksandr was named the best boxer. After the show, the Ukrainian left a message for the public in which he recalled the events in our country.
Usyk also puzzled journalists with his appearance. On the sidelines of the show, our compatriot was threatened with revenge by the British holder of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs). At the same time, the head of the General Directorate of Saudi Arabia for Entertainment, Turki Al-Al-Sheikh, announced his intention to organize a rematch between the British and Ukrainian.
It will be recalled that Oleksandr defeated Daniel by TKO in the ninth round in August 2023, and the Briton scored with a dirty punch below the belt.
In turn, British boxer Frazier Clark (8-1-1, 6 KOs) called on the Ukrainian to end his career.
