Zelenskyy is disciplined, and Zelenska is private: famous Ukrainian TV presenter Yefrosynina shares her impressions of the president and his wife
TV presenter and public figure Masha Yefrosynina has known Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena for many years. During this time, they have worked on TV projects with the Ukrainian leader, and now they are working together as an artist and the First Lady as they are both interested in the problems of gender inequality and violence.
In an interview with Ukrainska Pravda, Masha Yefrosynina spoke about her experience of communicating with the couple and her impressions of these conversations.
The host called the former showman, who built a media empire before becoming president, "one of the best partners in her life." Even 15 years ago, when the stars collaborated on various projects, she noted her colleague's reliability, focus, and discipline.
"The script is written in advance, everything is spelled out, everything is spoken, everything is very easy, all the jokes were on me, all practiced. Volodymyr is one of the few partners who allows us to work in pairs. He controls everything as much as possible. That is, he didn't work the way I did. For example, when we hosted Teletriumf, he specified who should stand and where, where the award winners should go, where the microphones should be placed," Yefrosynina recalled.
At the same time, Zelenskyy was not a guest at all media events where his colleagues gathered. Masha Yefrosynina believes that the artist was busy at that time, so when all the TV stars were still just hosts, he was already gracing the cover of Forbes and achieving great success in film and television production.
She described her relationship with the president as "warm respect" and recalled only one 30-minute conversation with him in her dressing room. The artist considers the leader's wife to be private in a good way.
They met in 2016, but Olena Zelenska first called the star to her office in 2019. She asked her to prepare a report on the situation with gender-based violence in Ukraine, which at that time was already Yefrosynina's specialty.
"We don't have a special relationship. We have met three times in her office during all these years of the president's term. And we constantly crossed paths at events dedicated to combating domestic violence. She is very private. You look at her and think: I'd rather not approach her and not bother her. I think she doesn't like publicity," the artist shared her thoughts.
