Tired but strong: how Zelensky's look changed after almost two years of full-scale war. Photo

How Volodymyr Zelensky has changed

It's hard to believe that a full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for almost two years. During this time, every Ukrainian has undergone serious internal and external transformations. This includes President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. His wife, Olena Zelenska, also notices the changes in the guarantor.

The First Lady of Ukraine notes that all of her husband's changes are very clearly readable from his face, which has become noticeably physically tired. Zelenska made this comment in an interview with BBC correspondent Laura Kunsberg.

However, as Zelenska noted, fatigue does not mean that the president lacks the strength or inspiration to fight.

"You can even observe from the outside (how the war has changed Zelensky - ed.). The man is not getting younger, he is getting tired, and it is physically visible. Fortunately, he has the strength to continue," the first lady said.

Zelenska has made similar comments before. In particular, she talked about what motivates her husband not to give up, "It is an indescribable responsibility to be the president of a country at war. It cannot but take its toll. But I want to note that he is a very resilient person. I have known him for many years and have seen him in various situations. I know that he will endure. He has some sources that keep him going. The most important thing, I think, is his confidence that he has to lead our country to victory and see peace come. This desire drives him and keeps him going."

Indeed, comparing photos of Volodymyr from two or three years ago with relatively recent shots, it is easy to notice his external changes. His gaze has become more stern and serious, and the fatigue Zelenska talks about can be seen on his face in the form of wrinkles.

The president's style has certainly changed too. Now, instead of classic suits, we see him wearing fleeces, sweatshirts, and T-shirts in military or black, often with the image of a coat of arms or a flag.

The comparison between the images taken before February 24 and the one taken in early April 2022 during a trip to liberated Bucha is particularly striking. That was the first time the president saw the consequences of the city's occupation by Russian terrorists. Zelensky's eloquent portrait then shocked the whole world.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Olena Zelenska said that she did not want her husband to remain in office for one or more terms. Read why the First Lady is against it here.
