Members of the royal family are so well known for their love of sports that some of them have even participated in the Olympic Games. This year's international tournament, which began in Paris on July 26, made royal fans recall the most memorable times when the monarchs themselves were competitors at the Olympics.

Before she married Prince Albert of Monaco, Olympic swimmer Princess Charlene represented South Africa at the 2000 Sydney Games, and her team finished fifth in the medley relay. Princess Haya bint Al-Hussein, who is the daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan and his third wife, Queen Alia, is a skilled equestrian. She represented Jordan at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
