"He has a different type of thinking." Olena Zelenska tells what qualities in her husband's character she appreciates most
Over 21 years of marriage and 8 years of relationship before that, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife, and concurrently First Lady, Olena Zelenska, have learned a lot about each other. They were able to reveal their good and bad sides of their character and find special qualities in each other.
Now, Olena Zelenska reflects and says that she appreciates her husband's radically different view of things and his sense of humor. In an interview with Portuguese political commentator Nuno Rozeiro, she admitted that Volodymyr Zelensky "gives me hope to look to the future" because of his optimism.
"Nothing is ever difficult for him. And this is an illusion. Because he is a conscious person and understands that there are no simple issues in this life. I really appreciate his feelings and optimism. And sometimes, when it seems that everything is dark, it's people like him who give you hope to look to the future. He always knows, in some strange way, how to support me when it's really hard. He has a different type of thinking than I do, and we are lucky to have that. So when I don't see a solution, he looks at the other side and sees it," the first lady admitted.

However, Russia's full-scale war has somewhat changed the nature of the Ukrainian president and his areas of interest. Olena Zelenska recalled that in February 2022, his most important emotion was a sense of responsibility as the leader of a great country.
"It was felt in everything, in his every gesture, in his voice. Because making sure that the nation holds on, that people don't despair, that we can fight back is the task of a leader in times like these. And this was his most basic emotion, his task in those days was to be the leader of his people," she said.
