Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Trump
US presidential candidate Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed the assassination attempt on the American politician and the prospects for ending the war in our country.
Trump announced this on Truth Social, calling the conversation "very good." According to him, Zelenskyy condemned the "horrific assassination attempt last Saturday" and noted that the American people are united in these times.
"He congratulated me on a very successful Republican National Convention and the nomination as the Republican presidential candidate for the United States," the Republican added.
Trump went on to call himself "the next president of the United States" and said that he would bring peace to the world and end the war that has cost so many lives.
"Both sides will be able to come together and agree on a deal that will end violence and pave the way for prosperity," the politician said.
Zelenskyy also spoke about his conversation with Trump on his social media page X. He noted that he had agreed with the US presidential candidate to discuss in person what steps could make peace just and truly lasting.
"Ukraine will always be grateful to the United States for its help in strengthening our ability to resist Russian terror. Russian attacks on our cities and villages continue every day," the Head of State added.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized the vital importance of bipartisan and bicameral American support for the protection of the freedom and independence of our country.
In addition, the guarantor congratulated Trump on his nomination from the Republican Party and condemned the attempted assassination in Pennsylvania. "I wish you strength and absolute security in the future," he wrote.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Ukraine will continue to work with the White House regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election. If Republican candidate Donald Trump wins the election, this work will be "difficult," but Ukrainians are "hardworking," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
