"Step by step, we are moving towards the Global Peace Summit": Zelenskyy speaks about the importance of the summit in Saudi Arabia

The fate of millions of people in Africa, Asia and other parts of the world directly depends on how quickly the Ukrainian peace formula is implemented. Ukraine's victory over the aggressor and a just and fair end to the war will benefit everyone, as it will restore calm to international relations and stability to global security.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening video address. He explained the importance of the summit in Saudi Arabia.

The Head of State reminded that tomorrow, 5 August, a meeting of advisers to the heads of state and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Ukraine's peace formula would begin in the "economic capital" of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah.

"It is very important that the world sees that a just and fair end to Russian aggression will benefit everyone in the world. The liberation of Ukrainian land from the occupiers means restoring full respect for international law and the UN Charter. Elimination of all threats to Ukrainian and global security created by Russia is the return of calm to international relations and stability to global life," the President said.

Zelenskyy thanked Saudi Arabia for providing a platform for the talks.

"Recently, a meeting in the same format was held in Copenhagen. We are moving step by step towards the Global Peace Summit," the President stressed.

He also thanked international leaders for their support.

"I am grateful to everyone who supports the Peace Formula and has already joined joint efforts to fully implement the Formula," Zelenskyy said.

On 5-6 August, peace talks on Ukraine will be held in Saudi Arabia, with the participation of Ukraine, Western countries and key developing countries, including India and Brazil. The aim of the meeting is to strengthen international support for Ukraine's demands for peace.

Representatives of leading countries will discuss Ukraine's security without the Kremlin at the summit. The main goal is to try to bring the positions of neutral, non-Western countries closer to the Ukrainian peace plan.

The US supported a peace summit without Russia in Saudi Arabia and stressed that Ukraine should play a leading role in any potential diplomatic solution to the war. The State Department said that representatives of the US government would attend the summit.
