Almost 260 Ukrainian citizens are waiting to be evacuated from Gaza

Almost 260 Ukrainian citizens need to be evacuated from Gaza. Ukrainian diplomats are working to get our people out of the hot spot in the Middle East.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his traditional evening address to the Ukrainian people and the world on Sunday, October 15. However, as the head of state emphasized, the exit from there is blocked for citizens of all countries (to watch the video, scroll to the bottom of the page).

As you know, the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip is not working.

"We are working with our partners to evacuate our citizens. Ukrainian diplomats are ready to help every citizen who needs it," the President said.

At the same time, the evacuation of Ukrainians from Israel continues. More than 200 people have already been evacuated, mostly children and women. They are currently in Romania, a neighboring country of Ukraine.

In addition, the President noted that new flights are already being prepared to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Israel.

"Once again, I appeal to all Ukrainians who may be abroad and need help. At any time, in any way, please contact our diplomatic missions abroad," Zelensky said.

Earlier, Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, said that the Israeli Foreign Ministry had revoked the permission for Ukrainian citizens to leave the Gaza Strip at the last minute. This happened only two hours before the departure. The reasons for this decision are not yet clear.

According to him, 243 citizens need to be evacuated, but this number is expected to grow.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, seven Ukrainian citizens became victims of the war between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group. Nine more Ukrainians are still missing.
