Biden warns Netanyahu that U.S. will not be directly involved in Iran's response - CNN
The United States will not directly participate in any operations against Iran if Israel decides to respond to Tehran's massive attack on the night of April 14. Washington is convinced that Israel should consider that night its victory, as most of Iran's air defense systems were shot down.
Those missiles that the air defense system failed to deal with did not hit significant targets. This was stated by US President Joe Biden during a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on April 14, CNN reports.
The publication, citing data obtained from a senior US presidential administration official, reported that in a conversation with Netanyahu, Biden warned that the United States would not engage in a direct confrontation with Iran on the side of Israel if it decided to respond to the attack on the night of April 14.
"The United States will not engage in any offensive operations against Iran, US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a senior administration official told CNN. He said this during a telephone conversation between the two leaders after Iran's strikes on Israel," the article says.
Citing sources, CNN also noted that Biden told Netanyahu that Israel should consider the night of the Iranian attack as its own victory. After all, according to US estimates, "Iran's attacks were largely unsuccessful and demonstrated the superiority of Israeli military capabilities."
Washington believes that since almost all of Iran's drones and missiles were shot down, Iran failed to hit "anything of value."
Late in the evening of April 13, it became known that Iran had openly attacked Israel by launching Shahids and missiles. During the attack, which is called "unprecedented" both in terms of the number of weapons used and the fact that Iran attacked Israel directly, rather than through its proxies, for the first time in 40 years, civilians were injured. According to the Israeli National Emergency Medical Service, 31 people received medical care. All of the victims were either injured while running to the shelters or needed help due to an acute stress reaction.
Two injured children and three seriously injured people were also reported as a result of the fire in the Sharon medical center.
After the attack, the US Congress called for a strike against Iran, and the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting . Meanwhile, Israel itself is preparing a response to the attack.
