Zelenskyy held the first talks with Sunak in the new year: what they agreed on
On Tuesday, January 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak held their first phone talks in 2024. Among other things, they discussed the continuation of defense cooperation with a focus on further strengthening the air defense and long-range capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader announced the call to Sunak on the evening of January 2 on his Telegram channel. The guarantor told the British prime minister about the continuation of Russian air terror against Ukrainian cities.
Over the past five days, the occupation army has launched at least 500 missiles and drones at our country.
Zelenskyy thanked his colleague for the UK's "significant and comprehensive" contribution to the strength of Ukraine's air defense. In particular, London has provided us with radars, advanced anti-drone systems and missiles.
"We noted the productive work on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine within the framework of the Vilnius Declaration of the G7 countries. We must finalize it as soon as possible," Zelenskyy wrote.
They also coordinated their positions on the peace formula ahead of the fourth meeting of advisers in Davos, Switzerland, and discussed joint work on specific items and preparations for the Global Peace Summit at the level of leaders. According to media reports, the latter may be held in February 2024.
