Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in Finland on 3 May on an official visit. During his meeting with the country's leadership, the head of the Ukrainian state may discuss the issue of military support for Ukraine.

Official discussions between President Sauli Niinisto and President Zelenski will touch upon, among other things, military support for Ukraine. This is reported by the Office of the Finnish President.

Also during the talks, Zelenskyy and Niinistö will raise the topic of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Finland and discuss the global geopolitical situation. It is noted that the head of the Ukrainian state arrived in Helsinki at the invitation of the president of Finland.

In the afternoon, the President of Finland will hold a summit between the countries of Northern Europe and Ukraine. In addition to President Niinistö and President Zelenski, other participants include Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Icelandic Prime Minister Katrin Jacobsdottir.

During the summit, the sides will discuss the situation that has developed as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine and will also touch upon the issue of Ukraine's permanent support by the Nordic countries.

In addition, the leaders are expected to discuss the development of Ukraine's relations with the European Union and NATO, as well as Ukraine's Just Peace Initiative. The prime ministers of Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark will hold bilateral meetings with the Ukrainian president.

At the end of April, the Finnish government announced that it was preparing the next 15th package of military aid to Ukraine against the backdrop of a full-scale war with the Russian occupiers. The amount of this batch of supplies to the Ukrainian army was about 78 million euros.

In March, Finland announced a package of military aid worth 161 million euros to Ukraine. It included, among others, three Leopard 2R tanks, which are used for demining.

Earlier it was reported that Finland and Sweden had put their naval forces on high alert to prevent possible Russian sabotage of the states' energy networks. The aggressor country's warships were spotted near wind farms and underwater power cables.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, exercises of the Finnish coastal fleet together with two NATO ships were held in the Gulf of Finland off the Russian coast. This is the first military exercise of the country after joining the Alliance. On April 4, Finland officially became a member of NATO . In Brussels, the head of the country's Foreign Ministry signed a corresponding document.
