Zelensky: Umerov is a strong man

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the appointment of a new Defense Minister. In his opinion, this is exactly the person the country needs.

The head of state said this in his evening address to Ukrainians on September 7. The President noted that Rustem Umerov will be able to reboot the work of the Ministry (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).

"I officially presented today the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. A strong man. Systematic. Well-versed in the field of defense. He has been involved in arms negotiations for Ukraine since the first days of full-scale war and is very sensitive to negotiations in general. Effective. He is also involved in negotiations for the release of our people from Russian captivity. At the same time, Rustem also has important results for Ukraine," Zelensky said.

The President noted that Umerov is "exactly what is needed now".

The head of state also congratulated Ukrainian intelligence officers on their professional holiday.

"We all realize how cool our officers are. Real courage, strong results. I thank the DIU from all of Ukraine," he said.

The President said that he held several important meetings about our international work. Several quite concrete results in the work with partners are expected in September.

"This includes new weapons for Ukraine. We are preparing news and increasing our diplomatic efforts to unite more countries of the world for the sake of restoring peace throughout our land. We are preparing more world pressure on Russia," Zelensky shared.

The head of state also noted the effective work of the military.

"The 12th Special Forces Brigade, which is fighting in the east of our state, as well as the 3rd and 15th brigades of the National Guard fighting in the southern directions. I thank you, warriors, for the very, very effective destruction of the occupants!" he said.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has announced his intentions to introduce an electronic military card in Ukraine and launch a unified register of conscripts. He also intends to digitalize all the processes of military medical commissions.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada appointed a new Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov on the recommendation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He replaced Oleksiy Reznikov.

On September 4, Oleksiy Reznikov wrote a letter of resignation. He submitted the relevant document to the Verkhovna Rada. On the same day, Rustem Umerov wrote a statement asking to dismiss him from the post of the head of the State Property Fund.

On August 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the resignation of Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov. Reznikov reported on his work as Defense Minister before the vote for resignation.
