President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the CEO of BAE Systems, a company that produces artillery systems and light tanks. During the talks, they managed to reach an agreement on localization of weapons production in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that among the products of BAE Systems is a 155-mm howitzer M777. This was reported by Zelensky in his Telegram (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the page).
According to the president, the best weapons now help Ukrainian servicemen to defend the country against Russian aggression. At the same time, the head of state emphasized that the development of the country's own arms production is a top priority for Ukraine.
Zelensky noted that the emphasis will be placed on 155-mm M777 howitzers and L119 howitzers. The issue of CV90 light tank production was also raised during the talks.
"I highly appreciate when private companies come to Ukraine and open offices. This is a wonderful message. It is not about business, it is precisely about supporting our people, our Ukrainians. I personally appreciate it. We are certainly very interested in what you are doing," Zelensky said.
Woodburn confirmed that BAE Systems is opening an office and production facility in Ukraine. He added that he wants Ukraine to win the war, so the company is committed to supporting our country.
BAE Systems' products include Typhoon, Jaguar, Harrier II, Tornado GR4 fighters, Challenger 2 tanks, M113 tracked platforms, as well as Bradley IFVs, Archer Artillery System.
