Zelensky: if Russians feel that Putin is stealing billions, they will push him to peace

So far, the dictator has not realized that war is a very expensive and time-consuming thing, Zelenskyy said

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin receives billions from trade with India, China, and Arab countries and spends them on a criminal war against Ukraine. If the Russian population feels that they are being robbed, only then will they begin to "push" the Kremlin toward peace.

This statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Indian media published on August 25. In particular, he pointed out that India is a large country with a large population that has a significant impact on Russia's economy through trade with it.

"If we are talking about a global role , because you have a global impact, a large country with a large population, and you also have an impact on the Russian economy today, because many export opportunities for Russia are closed, but India is open. We talked about this with Mr. Prime Minister (Narendra Modi - Ed.), and of course, this helps the Russian army, and I think the Indian government definitely understands this," Zelensky said.

He added that "we would certainly be happy to work on alternative ways," as in the case of India, we are not even talking about millions, but billions, "which go back to Putin, to Russia, and then he uses them because officially he has an economy of war now."

"This means that the priority is war, not peace. Not only for its military. It means that the priority for its economy is also set to war. And, of course, if billions come in, and they are coming in, from India, Arab countries, from China, of course, this will help him a lot," the president said.

According to him, today the Kremlin dictator has not felt that the war is costly for the aggressor country. Neither has the Russian society, which either does not understand what is happening or understands and supports the Kremlin because of the strong influence of propaganda:

"He has to feel that war is a very expensive and very costly thing. And his society has to feel it. Because if he receives these billions, he will not feel it. He steals billions from his people, they are poor. That's why he didn't feel it. But if his society feels it, then they will push him to peace. Because his society does not understand what is happening. Or it understands and supports him because of the influence of the media inside the country, which Putin controls completely one hundred percent, and social networks, not only state-owned, but also private, any kind."

As OBOZ.UA reported, on August 23, the Flag Day of Ukraine, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kyiv on his first official visit since Ukraine's independence. He met with Zelenskyy, and the tête-à-tête between them lasted about two hours.

During the meeting, Modi stated India's desire to help and its position in favor of a diplomatic solution to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

In early July, he visited Russia and held talks with Putin, after which he called for a dialogue to end the war in Ukraine.
