"We must defeat terror together": Zelenskyy thanked everyone who is involved in eliminating the consequences of the Russian attack, appealing to the world leaders
As a result of Russia's large-scale attack on Ukraine on December 29, nearly 120 settlements in our country were affected, killing 39 civilians and injuring 159. The debris removal and response efforts have been ongoing for over a day.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked everyone who is working tirelessly to help Ukrainians and restore normal life. He also called on foreign leaders to unite to defeat terror.
According to the President, almost 120 Ukrainian cities and villages were affected by the Russian attack on December 29. Civilian infrastructure came under attack: hundreds of facilities were damaged.
In the afternoon of December 30, the work to eliminate the consequences of the terrorist attack continues.
"I thank all our rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, employees of utility companies, police officers, everyone who is now on the ground helping, supporting people, clearing the rubble and restoring normal life," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He added that as of 2:30 p.m., 159 civilians were known to have been injured. 39 people were killed. The President expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims and assured that all the wounded and injured had received proper assistance.
Zelenskyy also addressed world leaders.
"I would like to thank all the world leaders, politicians and public figures who condemned this attack. I thank journalists from many countries who support our people and tell the truth about Russian evil and our defense. Weapons in the hands of Ukrainians are always a defense of life, and every manifestation of Russian terror proves again and again that we cannot delay in helping those who stand up to terror. We all have to defeat terror together," he emphasized.
As a reminder, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 10 Shahed drones on the night of December 30. Air Defense Forces shot down five of them.
The day before, on December 29, Russia launched its largest air attack. Ukraine's Air Defense Forces destroyed 114 of 158 enemy targets: 27 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs and 87 X-101/X-555/X-55 cruise missiles.
There are reports of hits in Sumy and Cherkasy regions, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, and other cities and villages.
More than 100 private houses were completely destroyed or damaged, 45 high-rise buildings, schools, two churches, hospitals, a maternity hospital, and many commercial and warehouse premises were damaged.
As of the evening of the previous day, 29 Ukrainians were reported dead and more than 150 people were injured.
