"We can return peace to Ukraine." Zelenskyy addressed the participants of the National Prayer Breakfast. Photos and video
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the National Prayer Breakfast. Addressing the participants of the event, he said that he believed in the possibility of returning peace to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy posted photos and videos from the meeting on June 29 on his official Telegram channel. "Thank you for your prayers for Ukraine! Thank you for spreading the truth about this war, uniting and supporting people, and calling on all the hearts of the world to be with us," he said in the post.
Addressing the participants of the National Prayer Breakfast, Zelenskyy said that Ukrainians have repeatedly proved that there are no impossible things, "when you believe in yourself, when you know that you have the truth of man and God on your side when you act and when you do everything to keep people united."
"I believe that we can bring peace back to Ukraine. And let every new day, every new result bring peace to Ukraine and security to all our people," he said.
The President of Ukraine added that in the war with Russia, Ukrainians are defending values that are close to every normal person – "everyone who respects life, who values family, and who is happy when they see children rejoice, and when children can live – and not just live, but exactly as they dream of – with their families, in their homes, and in safety."
Zelenskyy also recalled that the other day they managed to accomplish a task "that seemed almost impossible to many" – 90 of our soldiers and ten civilians were returned from Russian captivity.
"And among them are Christian priests – Bohdan Geleta and Ivan Levytskyi. They are now here with us. I would very much like us to greet them all. We thank you very much for your strength and for the dignity with which you have come this way, through all this," he said.
Zelenskyy said that Bohdan Geleta and Ivan Levytsky served God in the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UGCC in Berdiansk. On November 16, 2022, the invaders captured them and have been holding them in captivity ever since.
"Thanks to the efforts of our team and the mediation of the Vatican, for which I am especially grateful, we managed to return them to freedom. We believed it would be possible. We worked for it. And in the same way, you and I must not give up and fight to bring home everyone, all our people who are still in Russian captivity, all Ukrainian children who were abducted in the occupied territory and deported by force to Russia," the President said.
He also called for a fight "to return normal life and security to every city and every Ukrainian community – to all those who suffer from Russian evil, from Russian strikes and who, unfortunately, are under Russian occupation."
"We must act together to fully implement the Peace Formula and to ensure that the Russian occupier does not win in anything. We have repeatedly proved that there are no impossible things when you believe in yourself when you really know that you have the truth of man and God on your side when you act, and when you do everything to keep people united. And I believe that we can bring peace back to Ukraine. And let every new day, every new result bring peace to Ukraine and security to all our people," the Head of State said.
He also thanked the participants of the silent breakfast for their support, prayers for Ukraine, spreading the truth about the war, uniting people, and calling on the world to stand with Ukraine.
