"We are receiving positive signals": Zelenskyy speaks on strikes on Russia with Western weapons and explains Budanov's loud statement

Zelenskyy spoke about Ukraine's accession to NATO

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the attitude of many partners to strikes on Russian territory has changed for the better. After all, Ukraine has proven that such strikes protect our energy system and people.

The head of state said this at a meeting with journalists, which was attended by OBOZ.UA editor-in-chief Lesia Hasych. According to him, the process of negotiations on striking deep into Russia's territory with the weapons of partners is ongoing, but there are already positive signals.

"Work on this issue is ongoing. At first, our partners were not all supportive and were not happy with our weapons strikes on Russian territory, fearing de-escalation. But after we convinced them that such strikes also protect our energy system, their attitude changed. As for the strikes with Western weapons, the process is ongoing and we are receiving positive signals in this regard," the President emphasized.

The Head of State also explained the recent statement of the Head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov regarding the Russian offensive in the north, noting that his words had been misunderstood.

"I had a conversation with Budanov. He said that he was misunderstood. Serious work has been done in the Kharkiv region to prevent an offensive from the north," the president said.

We would also like to remind you that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs 25 more Patriot systems to completely cover the sky. Currently, there is a decision on five additional air defense systems that Kyiv expects from its partners.

Earlier, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the threat of a Russian offensive against Ukraine from the north exists and is absolutely real. The trend is toward aggravation, so the problem cannot be ignored.

Many people have mistakenly understood the threat from the "north" that Budanov was talking about as a threat from the territory of Belarus. However, this is a mistaken perception, explained Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council's Central Intelligence Center.

"For some reason, many people confuse the North, which Budanov is talking about, with Belarus. They are different things. There is no threat of an offensive from Belarus," he said.
