"We are ready": the Air Force explains whether there is a threat from aviation in Belarus

There is a threat of military aircraft being used against Ukraine from the airspace of Belarus. However, the Air Force is closely monitoring the takeoffs and movements of aircraft in the neighboring country.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ilya Yevlash, during a telethon. He added that the Ukrainian military is ready for different scenarios.

The hosts in the studio asked Yevlash what threat Belarusian aviation could pose to Ukraine today.

"We have seen how the Belarusian so-called president has already provided territory for the Russian offensive during the beginning of a full-scale invasion. Of course, we do not exclude the use of aviation from its territory, as aviation is a highly mobile branch of the armed forces," said the spokesman.

At present, Yevlash added, the Russians continue to use Belarusian airfields, in particular, during exercises. Given this, as well as the fact that Russian aviation can move considerable distances in a short time, the Defense Forces are closely monitoring the slightest changes in the situation and preparing for various developments.

"Of course, it (Belarus - Ed.) poses a threat. And, in particular, of different types. Both missile and bomb attacks. Therefore, we are ready for different scenarios, we monitor the movement of aircraft, their takeoffs. We use different types of information for this purpose, both from our intelligence and from our partners," he said.

As a reminder, on April 2, self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus was preparing for war, but "for the sake of peace." He assured that the country is conducting the necessary training of the relevant units, and the armed forces are being supplied with various types of weapons and equipment.

It was also reported that Belarus is launching military exercises near the border with Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine.
