"This will have an impact on a united Europe." Zelensky spoke about the consequences of delaying the US assistance to Ukraine. Video.
If America's aid to Ukraine is delayed, some European countries may also reconsider their position. This also threatens the loss of the US-European alliance.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the German TV channel ARD. The journalist asked what would happen if the United States stopped supporting the country.
The Ukrainian leader believes that this will not happen. However, Europe alone will not be able to provide Ukraine with the same level of support as it used to with the participation of the United States. Neither with weapons nor with finance.
"If this happens and the US delays the processes of supporting Ukraine, it will have an impact on the united Europe. And there are consistent problems here," Zelensky said.
"The first is the shortage of weapons and finances in Ukraine. Second, I think the alliance between the US and Europe will be lost. Thirdly, Europe will realize that this is a signal that if Ukraine fails and Putin moves forward, this is a signal from the United States that Europe will be left alone among NATO countries to confront Russia," the president continued.
He warned that the Russian dictator would use this situation to his advantage.
It will also signal that the North Atlantic Alliance is not as strong as it seems.
"I think the sanctions policy will also be strengthened. Because the United States, when it supports Ukraine, also influences the sanctions policy of European countries against the Russian Federation for its aggression," the guarantor said.
