"There are nuances": Zelenskyy clarifies the situation with the possibility of Poland shooting down Russian missiles

Zelenskyy clarifies the situation with the possibility of Poland shooting down Russian missiles

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that NATO countries are still discussing the possibility of shooting down Russian missiles flying towards Poland. Technical details are currently being discussed.

The president noted that Ukraine has already signed relevant documents with Poland. Zelenskyy said this at a meeting with journalists, which was attended by OBOZ.UA editor-in-chief Lesia Hasych.

According to the head of state, not all NATO member states believe that shooting down Russian missiles flying towards the west of Ukraine and Poland will be considered "red lines." At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that the decision on this issue should be a collective one.

Zelenskyy also said that it was about the ability to shoot down Russian missiles flying towards Poland and towards Ukrainian gas storage facilities. The President explained that the gas from these storage facilities is used by countries that do not want to make a final decision on the possibility of destroying Russian missiles.

Therefore, due to missile attacks on gas storage facilities, Ukraine's closest neighbors may be left without gas during the heating season. At the same time, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had already signed certain documents with Poland. Technical issues and other nuances are currently being discussed.

As a reminder, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced that Poland will not shoot down Russian missiles that attack Ukraine. According to him, NATO's policy on participation in this war is unchanged.

Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that Warsaw is considering shooting down Russian missiles heading toward Poland while they are still in Ukrainian airspace.
