"The target is hit": Zelenskyy says Ukraine has used a domestic drone missile "Palianytsia" for the first time
Ukraine has used its newest domestic drone missile, Palianytsia, for the first time. On August 24, the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, it hit an enemy target.
This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a solemn event on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day. The event was broadcast on the Presidential Office's YouTube channel.
"Today, a brand new weapon, the Ukrainian drone missile Palianytsia, was used for the first time. This is our new method of retaliation against the aggressor. The enemy has been defeated," Zelenskyy said.
"It will be very difficult for the Russians, it will be difficult even to say what exactly has arrived, it will be difficult to resist, but it is easy to understand why," Zelenskyy said.
Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin clarified in his Telegram that the enemy's facility, which received the latest Ukrainian weapon, is located in the temporarily occupied territory.
"This is a drone and a missile because the product falls under both definitions in terms of its tactical and technical characteristics," the official explained.
He added that there will be more drone missiles, just as there are more long-range attack drones, whose results Ukrainians see almost every day.
"The drone missile is the next step in the evolution of Ukrainian defense tech. We have been looking forward to the moment when we could demonstrate its effectiveness to the enemy. Finally, this moment has come," Kamyshin said.
Earlier, Zelenskyy demonstrated Ukrainian weapons that help defend the country from Russian aggression at sea, on land, and in the air. The capabilities of Ukraine's defense industry are different and much greater.
"At sea: "Neptune, Sea Baby, Magura V5. On land: "Bogdana, Stugna, Corsair. In the air: "Beaver, Morok, Lutyi. Our Ukrainian developments, which clean the Black Sea, add strength to our state and destroy Russia's potential," the president said in a statement.
