The Ministry of Defense said whether the withdrawal of the "Wagner" PMC from Bakhmut was recorded

The Russian private military company Wagner did withdraw its mercenaries from the suburbs of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast. However, Russian Armed Forces units came there to replace them, and there are still Wagnerites in the city itself.

Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar described the situation as of May 25 in her Telegram channel. She noted that the east remains the epicenter of hostilities on the Ukrainian front.

According to her reports, the occupants are now launching attacks in several directions - Avdiivka, Maryinka, Liman, Kupiansk, and Bakhmut.

In the first two, the defenders repulsed enemy attacks. The Russian Army's offensives there are unsuccessful.

On the Liman direction, says Malyar, the day before the occupants took a so-called pause and did not go on the offensive.

At the same time, fighting is still going on in the Kupianske direction. There the RF troops are attacking and suffering casualties in an attempt to seize a bridgehead for their further advance.

"On the Bakhmut direction with artillery fire the enemy is trying to stop our advance on the flanks. Now it is pulling up additional units on the flanks to reinforce them," a representative of the Defense Ministry said.

She added that in the suburbs of the fortress city, the aggressor did replace the units of the Wagner PMC with regular detachments of the Russian army. And in Bakhmut itself at the moment remain mercenaries from the ranks of the "Wagnerites".

"Our troops control the outskirts of the city in the southwestern part in the "Samolet" area," Malyar explained.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on May 25, the head of the "Wagner" PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin said that his mercenaries will leave Bakhmut by June 1 for "rest", and regular units of the Russian Armed Forces will take their place. The occupiers showed footage of the alleged withdrawal of the "Wagnerians" from the city.
