The defeat of Russian Sergei Kotov ship near Crimea caught on camera

On the night of March 5, numerous explosions were reported in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Later, it became known that the Russian warship Sergei Kotov was attacked off the coast of the Ukrainian peninsula.

Eyewitnesses filmed the moment when a large explosion occurred near the enemy ship. The video was published by propaganda Telegram channels.

The recording also shows intense shooting, probably from a large-caliber machine gun. According to preliminary data, the Russian invaders were trying to destroy the naval drones that attacked the ship.

It is worth noting that OBOZ.UA's sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate confirmed the information that Ukrainian defenders destroyed Sergei Kotov patrol ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The enemy vessel was attacked by naval drones. The agency also added that the fate of the crew of this ship is being clarified.

The agency said that the enemy vessel was sunk with the help of Magura V5 maritime drones. Ukrainian intelligence officers noted that the ship sustained damage to the stern, starboard and port sides. In addition, the DIU noted that the enemy ship was hit in the territorial waters of Ukraine near the Kerch Strait. It is noteworthy that the cost of the sunken ship is about $65 million.

Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, told Radio Liberty that there had been successful attacks on the Sergei Kotov ship before, but the occupiers had restored it. This time the ship finally sank.

He also emphasized that there are dead and wounded among the crew. Yusov added that part of the crew managed to evacuate, so the exact number of the eliminated invaders is being clarified.

The patrol ship of Project 22160 was armed with a 76.2 mm AK176MA artillery system. It was also equipped with a Positiv-MK radar station with a range of 300 km. The crew consisted of 80 people, and the ship was also equipped with a helicopter pad.

The Ukrainian Navy noted that the design of the 22160 ship is one of the most modern in Russia. Currently, only four such ships have been launched: Vasiliy Bykov, Dmitry Rogachev, Pavel Derzhavin, and Sergei Kotov. So far, only the Dmitry Rogachev has not been damaged.

It is noteworthy that on the morning of March 5, the Russian Defense Ministry complained about a UAV attack in the Belgorod region. The terrorist agency claimed to have "shot down" all the drones. At the same time, the invaders said nothing about the explosions in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

As a reminder, the network reported an alleged massive attack by "Ukrainian" UAVs and maritime drones on ground targets in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The propagandists complained that the Black Sea Fleet ships and the Crimean bridge were also targeted.

As reported, a missile attack on the Gvardeyskoye airbase near occupied Simferopol on March 1 damaged the airfield's taxiway and injured three soldiers. In Feodosiia, on March 3, a massive UAV attack damaged the main pipeline and roadway on the Tavrida highway.
