President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited one of the most tense areas of the frontline – Pokrovsk. In this area, he visited the positions of the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade, which is holding the line near the city.

Zelenskyy reported this on his social media. The Head of State talked to the defenders about the course of hostilities.

The President also presented state awards to the soldiers, whose resilience prevented the occupiers from completely occupying eastern Ukraine.

"This is one of the most tense areas. Thanks to the resilience of our soldiers, the east remains free and does not fall under full Russian occupation. The enemy receives a worthy rebuff every day," Zelenskyy emphasized.

In the Donetsk region, the President also got acquainted with the construction of fortifications and held a meeting on the life support of the region.

"Today I got acquainted with the construction of defense structures. Most of the planned facilities have already been arranged. I thank everyone involved in this important work," the president wrote.

In late October, The Economist wrote that Ukraine managed to hold Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, which was a disgrace to Putin, but that Russia was "breaking through Ukrainian defenses" in other parts of the frontline. Citing experts, the publication emphasized that the next few months will determine the nature of the war in Ukraine for several years.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Ukrainian defense of the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region forced the aggressor country, Russia, to change its approach to attacks on the eastern front. The Russian military command adjusted the plan of the offensive campaign in the Pokrovsk direction in the summer of 2024 when it became clear that they would not be able to capture the city in frontal attacks.
