Details on the attack on Dzhankoi

During the nighttime explosions in the temporarily occupied Dzhankoi in Crimea, six fires were recorded. All of them are located on the territory of and near the military airfield.

The VIIRS/Suomi NPP satellite managed to record the affected areas, the monitoring group of the Crimean Wind publication reported. The image was taken at 03.41 Moscow time.

The publication noted that Russian attack helicopters and S-300/S-400 launchers were based at the airfield.

"The satellite often shows not the places of explosion but secondary fires from the scattering of burning debris," the experts said, adding that the error in the coordinates of the fires determined by the satellite can be several tens of meters.

Interestingly, after the explosions, the "Minister of Transport" of the Russian government of Crimea, Nikolai Lukashenko, announced the closure of the highway from Dzhankoi to the village of Pobedne.

As a reminder, on the night of April 17, explosions occurred in the city of Dzhankoi in the occupied Crimea. They were followed by a massive fire in the area of the military airfield.

It is known that the 39th Helicopter Regiment of the 27th Mixed Aviation Division of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation, three aviation squadrons with Mi-8, Mi-35M, Mi-28, and Ka-52 are deployed at the military airbase near Dzhankoi. There are also helicopters of the FSB Border Guard Service.

Earlier, on April 15, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian command post in the temporarily occupied Crimea with a missile strike. The location was occupied by high-ranking Russian officers. During the attack, the Russians used special camouflage means in the Kerch Bay area of the temporarily occupied Crimea, including a smoke screen. The invaders' air defense system was also operating on the peninsula.
