SBU tells about fighting for "Road of Life" near Bakhmut

For the first time, the Security Service of Ukraine told how their snipers from the Special Operations Center "A" fought for the "Road of Life" near Bakhmut this spring. It is a crucial road between the destroyed city and the neighboring village of Chasiv Yar, which was used to deliver everything necessary to the soldiers who were struggling to keep the defense of Bakhmut.

This is described in the film "Bakhmut. The Road of Life" from the documentary series "SBU. Special Operations of Victory". The SBU noted that the Service's special forces, together with other units of the Defense Forces, held this important logistics artery for a long time. The SBU snipers covered the Ukrainian military in the Bakhmut direction.

This was necessary to gain time to regroup our troops and prevent Russian troops from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.

"Our Defense Forces did everything possible and impossible to hold the Bakhmut fortress. The SBU Special Operations Center "A" actively worked with them. As part of small tactical groups, our snipers covered the military in that area," said SBU Head Vasyl Maliuk.

SBU officers also performed counter-sniper and counter-sabotage work near Bakhmut and adjusted fire for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Maliuk, FPV drones also played an important role during the fighting in Donetsk region. The SBU was one of the first among the Ukrainian military to use them for combat work. The decision to reinforce the Special Forces with such drones was made during the SBU Head's visit to Bakhmut, as new technologies are an advantage on the battlefield.

"The SBU is a leader in the number of armored vehicles destroyed by attack drones. One of our groups completely destroyed 79 vehicles in four combat missions. A drone that costs from 450 to two thousand dollars burns a multi-million dollar tank. This is a very clear arithmetic that proves the effectiveness of drones," noted Malyuk.

Earlier, the SBU announced a series of documentaries that will reveal previously unknown details of its high-profile special operations that changed the course of the war. Each of the five episodes will be devoted to a separate episode of the battle for our homeland.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Ukrainian soldiers from the 3rd Assault Brigade, who took part in the battles for the "road of life" to Bakhmut in Donetsk region, told about this operation. The main task of the military was to stop the shelling of the road vital for the defense of the city. At the same time, the enemy resorted to tricks, including using Ukrainian army uniforms.
