"Red lines no longer exist": Reznikov talks about potential supplies of ATACMS and TAURUS missiles to Ukraine
Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov spoke about potential supplies of ATACMS and Taurus missiles to Ukraine. According to him, our partners will definitely transfer these types of weapons to our military.
This was announced by the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov during a meeting with the media. He also promised that the long-awaited F-16 fighter jets would be in Ukraine.
"We have already received Storm Shadow and SCALP. So today, in our opinion, Germany's joining the coalition is absolutely logical and realistic," he said.
Reznikov said that he is optimistic about the transfer of Taurus cruise missiles, as there are already positive signals from the German parliament.
"As for ATACMS, I don't see any serious obstacles, because America is a very pragmatic country. It takes them a long time to make decisions - how many missiles they have, how many they could provide, how many they could produce, so as not to reduce their combat capability," the Defence Minister explained.
Therefore, according to him, we should expect deliveries of "serious" weapons.
"There are no more red lines. All weapons will be delivered, including F-16s," he added.
ATACMS (Army TACtical Missile System) is a solid-fueled tactical surface-to-surface ballistic missile manufactured by Lockheed Martin. It has a range of up to 300 km.
TAURUS (Target Adaptive Unitary & Dispenser Robotic Ubiquity System) is a family of German-Swedish long-range air-to-surface cruise missiles designed for high-precision strikes and destruction of highly protected and deepened targets, including important points, without the carrier aircraft entering the enemy air defence zone. The system was developed and manufactured by Taurus Systems GmbH, a Schrobenhausen-based joint venture of MBDA Deutschland.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported:
- On 14 August, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner supported the provision of Taurus missiles to Ukraine during a visit to Kyiv. He expressed hope that our army would soon receive these weapons.
- German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock also indirectly expressed support for the transfer of Taurus to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. She said that Berlin "considers all the wishes" of Kyiv, and that Russia's full-scale invasion shows that "every day counts".
