"Performing tasks to weaken the enemy": the Defense Ministry explained the priority of the AFU activities in the south

Ukrainian defense forces continue their counter-offensive in the south of the country. Now the most important task of the Ukrainian soldiers is to weaken the enemy.

This was reported by the deputy head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Anna Maliar, on her Telegram channel on Wednesday, July 12. According to her, the offensive operation in Melitopol and Berdyansk directions continues.

Ukrainian servicemen are performing many tasks on these sections of the front aimed at weakening the occupying army of Russia as much as possible. They are also analyzing the situation for further action.

According to Maliar, the Ukrainian army has significantly undermined the offensive and defensive capabilities of the Russian invaders over the past few weeks in the south.

As many ammunition depots of the Russians have been destroyed, the number of enemy shelling has now decreased.

The defense spokeswoman also mentioned what is happening in the Bakhmut direction. There, the Ukrainian military is advancing on the southern flank around Bakhmut.

"There is an advance. Now our defenders are strengthening on the occupied borders," Maliar added.

On July 12, the AFU General Staff said that the Russian army is trying to advance in eastern Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian military continues its counter-offensive in the south. During the day, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 15 Iranian kamikaze strike drones.

Also, the enemy made 59 air strikes and carried out 40 shelling from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and settlements.

The speaker of the joint press center of the Defense Forces of the Tavriia direction, Major Valeriy Shershen, said that the AFU have partial success in the Berdyansk direction and are consolidating on the achieved borders, inflicting heavy losses on the occupants. They are carrying out aerial reconnaissance, counter-battery warfare, destroying enemy targets and demining territories.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the ISW said that the advances of the AFU were recorded in the area of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia direction, as well as near Klishchiivka and Rozdolivka in the Bakhmut direction.
