"Modi can influence the end of the war": Zelenskyy admits possibility of Ukraine-Russia talks in India

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the potential to influence the end of the war in Ukraine. His country could block Russian energy supplies, which would affect the aggressor's economy and military-industrial complex.

This "will lead to a decrease in Moscow's ability to wage war against us." The statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with The Times of India.

The head of state also allowed for the possibility of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in India.

"Modi is the Prime Minister of a truly huge country in terms of population, economy, and influence. Such a country cannot simply say that we are interested in ending the war – we are all interested in this. Prime Minister Modi can influence the end of the war with Ukraine. This is his enormous value in any conflict. This is a huge value of India," Zelenskyy explained.

He said that there is no doubt that negotiations can take place in India, "and Prime Minister Modi can really do it." But, as the president emphasized in the interview, the talks should take place "in our format, because the war is on our land," and for this, the country needs to prepare for the second Peace Summit.

Zelenskyy urged Modi to take concrete action, not just make rhetorical statements, as India's influence can be key in issues such as the return of Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia.

"You can force Putin to return Ukrainian children. Let Prime Minister Modi return at least 1,000 Ukrainian children," Zelenskyy said.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine's energy sector before the winter and reiterated that our Victory Plan and NATO membership are intended to strengthen Ukraine's position for future negotiations.

"The Victory Plan is not a bargaining chip or a topic of negotiations with Russia... We are asking for an invitation to NATO so that no one can change their mind in the future," Zelenskyy said.
