Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov demonstrated Senator armored vehicles received from Canada. He emphasized that such equipment will help save thousands of lives of Ukrainian defenders.

Characteristics of Senator armored vehicles

The Senator are high-profile armored special operations vehicles from Canadian company Roshel Defense Solutions. They were introduced in 2018. Senator is designed for different tasks, in particular for the transportation of personnel and evacuation of wounded. It is also possible to mount weapons on it.

The armored vehicle has a steel body and glass that can withstand 12.7 mm rounds, as well as an explosion-proof body, can withstand the detonation of a grenade or mine. The tires have a Run Flat system with on-the-go inflation. The armored vehicle has 8 seats for paratroopers.

The vehicle is also equipped with a military-grade air filtration system capable of countering chemical, biological and radiological attacks by generating clean air inside the pressurized cabin.

Ukrainian border guards from one of the units told CBC News that the Senator "feels safe" and is fast enough to allow for a quick exit from the battlefield.

"It picks up speed very quickly and will get us to the right places and do evacuation if we need it on the battlefield," said the commander of the State Border Guard Service unit.
