During the Independence Day celebrations, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian troops had used a domestically produced drone missile "Palianytsia" for the first time. The first pictures of this drone missile have already appeared online, allegedly showing it.

In addition, it became known in advance what target the Ukrainian troops could have hit. OBOZ.UA found out what is known about "Palianytsia" and what the deadly weapon looks like.

The Head of State noted that our country used the newest domestic drone missile for the first time. On the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, it hit an enemy target.

"Today, a brand new weapon was used for the first time - the Ukrainian drone missile "Palianytsia". This is our new method of retaliation against the aggressor. The enemy has been defeated. It will be very difficult for the Russians, it will be difficult even to say what exactly came, it will be difficult to resist, but it is easy to understand why," Zelenskyy said.

Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin confirmed the president's words about the new development of the domestic military-industrial complex. He said that Ukrainian engineers, together with the military, are determining what the future of defense technology will look like.

"Today in Ukraine you can find a drone for any task. In the air, on the ground, and at sea. For strike, reconnaissance, and logistics. At close range, medium range, and deep behind enemy lines. Today we have a completely new class of weapons, rocket drones," the minister said.

Kamyshin also emphasized that the Palyanytsia drone missile was successfully used for the first time, hitting an enemy military facility in the temporarily occupied territory. He also added that it is both a drone and a missile, as its tactical and technical characteristics fall under both definitions.

Kamyshin also announced that there will be more drone missiles. However, Russian troops have already seen the effectiveness of Ukrainian long-range weapons.

As of today, there are no official images of the Palianytsia drone missile online. At the same time, the Militarny portal published a photo of a weapon that, according to its tactical and technical characteristics, could be a Palyanytsia drone missile.

It is noted that the new jet-powered kamikaze drone made its first flight in January 2024. The published photos show an unmanned aerial vehicle with front horizontal plumage. In the aft part, there is a power plant of an unknown type, which is a jet engine.

According to the portal, the presence of air intakes suggests that the drone is not equipped with a rocket engine, and the engine thrust is adjustable.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine used the newest domestic drone missile "Palianytsia" for the first time. On August 24, the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, it hit an enemy target. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a solemn event on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.

As a reminder, the Swedish Defense Procurement Agency (FMV) will start operating in Ukraine this fall. Stockholm wants to move from donations to Ukraine to the production of military equipment, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Ukroboronprom for the first time entered the list of the 50 best global defense companies according to Defense News. The concern took 49th place, rising by 16 positions per year and overtaking many competitors, including Hanwha Aerospace (50th place), Hensoldt (52nd place), and Kawasaki Heavy Industries (53rd place).
