"Based on the UN Charter": Zelensky names three points of the Peace Formula that all countries support
Ukraine has identified three key points in the Formula for Peace that are endorsed even by those countries that do not fully support our country in times of war. They are all based on the United Nations (UN) Charter.
This statement was made by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He said this during a joint briefing with Portuguese Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro.
Zelensky clarified that there are three priorities: nuclear safety, food security and humanitarian issues.
"These points (of the Peace Formula - Ed.) are based on the UN Charter. We have taken three points - nuclear security, food security and humanitarian issues, which, by the way, include not only the exchange but also the return of Ukrainian children stolen by Russia and forcibly taken to Russia. These three points are very important. Perhaps we will also talk about nuclear security and attacks on Ukraine's energy sector," Zelensky said.
He added that all countries are united around these three points, which is a positive signal for further work.
"After that, at the technical level, our people, representatives of the leaders of all states, will work out the details of each of these points. If these three work, then we will also be able to solve everything else, if the countries really want to end this war," Zelensky said.
The Head of State emphasized that the "grain corridor" was worked on according to this scheme, and it brought positive results.
As a reminder, as Ukraine prepares for the June peace summit in Switzerland, where the Ukrainian Peace Formula will be discussed, two of Russia's BRICS allies have proposed holding an alternative summit. Brazil and China believe that a peaceful settlement should be discussed with the participation of both parties to the "armed conflict."
Earlier it was reported that China has not yet been able to confirm the participation of its delegation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland. They assured that they are "ready to maintain" communication with the international community and "have always maintained a fair and objective position" on the "crisis in Ukraine," but did not give a specific answer.
