"Who else should Russia kill?" Ukraine threatens IOC with boycott of the 2024 Olympics
Ukraine does not rule out the possibility that it will boycott the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after Russian athletes were allowed to participate. Despite the fact that Russian representatives will definitely not compete in team sports and must meet certain criteria, our country is outraged by this turn of events.
This is stated in a statement by the Minister of Sports of Ukraine, Matvii Bidnyi, published on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers. The official noted that Russian athletes are on the side of Volodymyr Putin's dictatorial regime and support the killing of Ukrainians, and many of them are members of the Russian Armed Forces.
"We strongly condemn the irresponsible decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The only state that has violated the Olympic truce three times is Russia. The only state that is trying to organize an alternative to the Olympics is Russia. The only state that threatens to come to the Olympics with tanks is Russia. What else does Russia have to do, whom else does Russia have to kill, for the IOC to finally take off its rose-colored glasses in relation to a terrorist country? As for Ukraine's participation in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we will make a decision later, after we have consulted with the Ukrainian sports community and the country's top political leadership," Bidnyi emphasized.
It should be noted that the Russian Wrestling Federation was outraged by the conditions of admission of athletes from the Russian Federation to the 2024 Olympics, demanding sanctions against Ukraine and Israel.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the president of the National Committee of Ukraine Vadym Gutzeit called for preventing Russians from participating in the Olympics, recalling the recent expulsion of the Russian Federation from the IOC.
