"Who did you buy?!" Dynamo legend shared how he tricked Surkis into buying Yarmolenko
Legendary footballer and Dynamo Kyiv player Jozsef Szabo shared how Andriy Yarmolenko ended up at the capital club. According to 83-year-old Jozsef, he deceived the coach.
It happened after Dynamo-2 match with Desna, for which the future star of the national team of Ukraine played.
"After the game, I approached the coach of the Chernihiv team and said that I wanted to take Yarmolenko. I deceived him because I said that I talked to the president and that we would buy him. The Dynamo administrator took him away to the hotel where he stayed. I told Surkis and Surkis bought him," Szabo recalled on the SportArena Youtube channel.
Szabo also admitted that Andriy did not reveal himself in Kyiv right away.
"Yarmolenko plays for Dynamo and gets a serious injury, dropping out for 3-4 months. When it has already passed, a year later i sit with Ihor and administrators.... Yarmolenko is playing. He plays badly. Surkis says to me, "Look! What kind of footballer is this? Who did you buy? Who did you bring me?". I was silent. Andriy played years after. He is now a 'daddy' on the pitch," Szabo did not hold back his emotions.
Yarmolenko is a pupil of Chernihiv soccer. Andriy debuted for the Kyiv team in May 2008. He played 340 matches for Dynamo, in which he scored 137 goals. He is among the top-4 best scorers in the history of the club.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Yarmolenko officially returned to Dynamo Kyiv on June 27, from which he left for Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
