International Olympic Committee responds to questions from Ukrainian media

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has refused to confirm the information that Russian athletes who support Vladimir Putin will not be allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games. The Base of Ukrainian sports received an evasive response from the IOC, which does not confirm that supporters of the Kremlin leader will miss the Olympics in Paris.

Earlier, the International Olympic Committee allowed Russians to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris in a neutral status and without national symbols.

"We would like to draw your attention to the details set out in the Conduct and Event Registration sections of the principles of participation for individual neutral athletes and support personnel with a Russian or Belarusian passport at the 2024 Games in Paris. They give a clear idea of the scope of application and we have nothing to add," the IOC said in a statement.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, earlier the head of the Kremlin's press service said that the IOC should not pay attention to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and not be interested in this topic at all. The organization should also lift any restrictions on Russian representatives and allow them to participate in competitions with national symbols.

Later, Peskov gathered a lot of unflattering comments from Russian fans by saying that without a country as big as Russia, the Olympic movement would be impoverished.
