"We categorically do not welcome": Russian boxer speaks about Usyk's victory over Fury, condemning the Ukrainian for supporting the country

Russian boxer Yevgeny Tishchenko (12-1, 7 KOs) called the victory of Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) over Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) in the May 18 fight a historic one. The Rio 2016 Olympic champion noted that the outcome of the fight came as a complete surprise to him, as the representative of the aggressor country even bet on the British success.

Tishchenko said this in an interview with the propaganda publication Sovetsky Sport. At the same time, the 33-year-old boxer ridiculously blamed Usyk for his pro-Ukrainian position on the aggression of the Russian terrorist state, which in February 2022 launched an unmotivated and criminal war against our country.

"Yes, I watched the fight. The result is amazing, I was betting on Fury, even betting money, I'll be honest. But I have to admit it: Usyk did go down in history as a great athlete, no matter how you slice it, despite all the political statements that we categorically do not welcome. He is an absolute champion in two weight categories, this is history. He deserves respect as an athlete," Tishchenko said.

Fury and Usyk will rematch on December 21. We already know the fantastic prize money for the second fight. A few weeks ago, our compatriot gave up the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt and lost the title of absolute world champion.

Later it became known that the IBF left Usyk no choice. This situation angered the head of the Absolute Fighting Championship (IBF), Dana White.
