Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has ordered his henchmen to organize the so-called Friendship Games in 2024. The sporting event will take place in September and will not overlap with the Olympic Games in Paris, but will be an alternative to the main starts of the quadrennium.
The statement was made by the secretary of the presidential council on the development of physical culture and sports Marat Filippov, writes the website of the propaganda TV channel "Match TV". He added that "the best athletes of the world" should perform at the tournament, which is planned to be held, like the Olympics, once every four years.
"Vladimir Putin decided to hold the Friendship Games in September 2024, and preparations have begun. The competition program is being worked out, and the best athletes of the world are expected to take part. This is not a one-time event. It is planned to be held once every four years," Filippov said.
The Friendship Games are a comprehensive international competition under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, Russian propagandists said.
