Usyk was given a unique gift from Bakhmut before the fight with Dubois. Video

Undefeated Ukrainian heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) was presented with an icon of the Mother of God. The gift was made to Usyk at the final press conference before his fight against the British Daniel Dubois in Wroclaw.
The icon was painted on a wooden board from an ammunition box used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in defence of Bakhmut.
Oleksandr Krasiuk, Usyk's promoter, reading out the cover letter to the gift, noted that the icon was painted by an outstanding master, Oleksandr Klymenko, whose masterpieces are kept by the Pope, King Gustaf of Sweden and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
After the icon fell into Usyk's hands, he kissed it and put it to his forehead.
The woman who presented the gift said that she was asked to do so by the soldiers with whom Usyk had been on the front line a few months ago.
As a reminder, on 26 August in Wroclaw, the Crimean will defend his championship belts against Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs). It has already become known on which channel the fight will be broadcast in Ukraine.
The day before, at an open training session before the fight, Usyk surprised everyone with his performance of the song "Testament" by BALSAM.
In addition, Oleksandr admitted that after Russia's full-scale invasion, he considered suspending his career.
