"Ukrainians will accept": Macron made a statement on Russia's participation in the 2024 Olympics

French President Emmanuel Macron called the performance of Russian athletes at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris under the national flag unacceptable. At the same time, he noted that the criteria for admitting representatives of the aggressor country to the competition were still unclear.
This Macron said in an interview with the publication L'Equipe. The president of the host country called on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) not to allow athletes who support the war in Ukraine or the dictatorial regime of Vladimir Putin to participate in the tournament.
"Obviously there can't be a Russian flag at the Paris Games, I think there is a consensus on that. The real question is that the Olympic world has to decide whether to give Russian athletes a place in the Olympics, since many of them have been preparing for the Games all their lives and may also be victims of the Putin regime. But how to determine that? That is the question. The IOC must make a decision that is fair and that the Ukrainians will accept. This is the balance we need to strive for," Macron said.
Note that the day before the media reported that France may be deprived of the right to host the Olympics-2024. Earlier, the IOC President Thomas Bach criticized Ukraine announced the conditions of admission of Russia to the Olympic Games-2024.
As reported OBOZREVATEL, the IOC banned athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the Asian Games-2023, which athletes were going to use to qualify for the Olympic Games-2024.
