The World Boxing Council (WBC) belt holder Tyson Fury is firmly confident in his victory over Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) in a fight on May 18. The Gypsy King, as the Briton is called, noted that he respects his opponent, whom he called a sausage again.
Fury said this in an interview with The Telegraph. The heavyweight from Manchester noted that although Usyk had beaten Anthony Joshua (28-3, 15 KOs) twice, it could not be called a great achievement, as the Briton was significantly inferior to many boxers in his skills. Tyson also added that he is not worried about the cut he received in February.
"I don't care about the eyes. If there's another fight, the number of views will increase, and there will be blood everywhere, but I won't let the fight stop. I'm going to destroy Mustache. I just want to beat this stupid sausage. Yes, Usyk is fast and talented, he has twice outboxed the great heavyweight Anthony Joshua, but he is absolutely monotonous. I could outbox him with my eyes closed. I'm just different," Fury said.
The Briton told us why he is fighting Usyk. Tyson also stated that he did not intend to refuse to rematch with the Ukrainian. The second fight is scheduled for mid-October.
The week before last, the broadcaster of the Usyk-Fury fight in Ukraine was announced and the cost of the show was determined. Former world champion Andy Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) made his prediction for the fight. Jordan Thompson (15-1, 12 KOs), the sparring partner of the two rivals, also shared his expectations for the duel.
Before that, Fury spoke frankly about Usyk, calling him a terrible person. The British boxer also spoke about being bullied in his younger years, when he was offered to quit the sport, and admitted why he decided to fight the Ukrainian.
