"There are good reasons for that": Russian ex-world champion gives his forecast for Lomachenko-Haney fight
Former world heavyweight champion Grigory Drozd of Russia expressed confidence that Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) will have a very difficult time defeating American Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) in a fight for the title of absolute world champion in the lightweight division. The representative of the Russian Federation stressed that the US boxer is superior in physical attributes.
Drozd said this in a comment to the Metaratings portal. In his opinion, Lomachenko will literally have to outdo himself to take the belt from a younger opponent who feels much more comfortable in the lightweight division.
"Like the bookmakers, I think Haney is the favourite. There are good reasons for that. Will Vasyl cope with him? This is a very difficult fight for Lomachenko. It seems to me that Haney has more trump cards: a weight class that is more suitable for his size, younger age and excellent skills. It will be a very interesting fight. Vasyl will need to outdo himself and be in very good shape to win," said Drozd.
The Ukrainian and the American will fight in Las Vegas. OBOZREVATEL will provide a live stream of the Lomachenko vs Haney fight. The fight is expected to start at 6:00 Kyiv time on Sunday, May 21.
