The Duma threatened "shame and disgrace" to Russian athletes who condemn the war in Ukraine

Russian athletes are not allowed to compete under neutral flags at international competitions, and athletes who agree to such conditions of admission will face "shame and embarrassment in the country. Representatives of the aggressor country should also not speak out against the war in Ukraine.

This was stated in an interview with the propaganda TV channel RT by State Duma deputy Roman Teryushkov. The scandalous politician demanded that athletes from Russia be citizens of the aggressor country and not turn a blind eye to the "tragic events of Russia".

"Russian athletes will not participate on conditions of neutrality anywhere. Those athletes who will be seen as indifferent to the SSO (as the Russian Federation infamously calls the war in Ukraine - ed.) and Russia, the motherland will never forget. Let them buy a one-way ticket and look for a sponsor to improve their sports skills outside of Russia. There is a basic right, coupled with duties, to be a citizen of Russia. If you're willing to be neutral for the sake of your career and turn a blind eye to the hardships and tragic events of Russia, don't expect joy and applause from the Russian people. You will disappear in shame and disgrace," Terushkov said.

Stanislav Pozdnyakov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), hinted that Russia will boycott the Games in Paris. And the Russian Fencing Federation refused to participate in international tournaments.
