"Take a break for rearmament": Putin reacts cynically to Macron's call for Olympic truce
Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has cynically reacted to French President Emmanuel Macron's call for an Olympic truce for the 2024 Games in Paris. The leader of the Russian terrorist state, with his usual hypocrisy, issued the delusion that Russia wants to "build good neighborly relations between the two states."
Putin said this after the presidential election in Russia, which ended the day before in the aggressor country, Sport24 reports. He also accused Ukraine of wanting to "take a break for rearmament" and international sports organizations of the collapse of the Olympic movement.
"I am not aware of this statement by the French president. I've been saying all along and I'll repeat it once again: we are in favor of peace talks, but not because the enemy is running out of ammunition. But if they really, seriously, in the long run, want to establish peaceful, good-neighborly relations between the two states. And not to take a break for rearmament for a year and a half or two. These are very serious issues. As for the Olympic Games, international officials are distorting the whole meaning of the Olympic movement and Olympism. They are undermining the very foundations of international sport," Putin said.
It should be noted that according to the preliminary results of the "elections in Russia in 2024", the Kremlin leader gains a record 87% of the "voters".
Earlier, the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, accused Putin of using underage figure skater Kamila Valiyeva for political propaganda.
