Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion, admitted that her gold medal at the Games left haters speechless. Prior to that, the 23-year-old native of Dnipro admits, she constantly received negative comments and Ukrainians' disbelief in her abilities.

Mahuchikh told about this in an interview with My Ukraina YouTube channel. The athlete also noted that her world record, which she set right before the Olympics, had the opposite effect - the fans doubted her motivation for future races.

"There are practically no haters now. The gold medal has left them speechless. But the world record did not. Everyone wrote that I would not take the gold medal in Paris. Like, that's it, the world record is done, so she won't make it at the Olympics... And when I took the silver, they wrote that it was only silver. But it was the silver medal of the World Championships, you know? If you achieve something, it's bad, if you don't, it's also bad. This is the way of life. They want to say at least something. You don't have to pay attention to that," Mahuchikh said.
